Re: [A/S] Escapees

We are presently at the Escapees Park in Livingston and taking park in the
demonstrations.

We came here to pick up some mail just before the *####* hit the fan - had
planned on leaving in a couple of days, but decided to stay to see what was
going to happen.  This is the situation:

Three local businessmen (who happen to be democrats) have challenged in court
the right of Escapees members to vote.  It was decided that a *green card*
would be sent to the 9,000 persons involved, which would have to be completed
*correctly* and returned within 30 days, or their vote would not be counted.
The judge who handed down this decision is also democrat.

The 9,000 Escapees make up 1/3 of the registered voters in Polk County and
could have a dramatic effect on any race.  It has also been said that all the
counties in Texas are firmly either democrat or republican, but Polk Co.
could hang either way which would be the deciding factor in the Texas House
and Senate.

Cathie Carr, CEO, has urged everyone to try to be bipartisan - and stay
focused on the fact that it is the right of everyone to vote.

Go to the Escapees Webpage at http://www.escapees.com and click on "What's
Hot" - there are several reprints of newspaper articles that explain the
situation further.

We haven't received our 'green card' yet and will wait here until we do to be
sure that it is completed and returned in time for the November election.

This could have a resounding effect on all fulltimers - for if they are
allowed to do this here, other politicians will surely pick up on it in other
parks of the country and anyone using a mail forwarding service could be
denied their right to vote.  Everyone here is taking this very seriously.

There is another hearing tomorrow morning and another demonstration - we will
be there and keep you posted.
