[A/S] Front Belly Pan Replacement WAS: Disappointed and Discouraged

Thanks all,  I feel renewed and optimistic about the chances of 
finding a reasonable Airstream again.  I'm going on an Overlander

One thing I've seen on a lot of trailers is the big dent in the lower 
curved aluminum piece just before it goes under the trailer.  

Why do so many trailers have this "feature" :) and can that sheet 
metal be, easily, replaced?
