[A/S] Re: Montana fire pictures

The final picture, with the fires and elk, was in our local paper this 
weekend, along with the story.  Thought you might like to hear it.  The 
picture has circulated all over cyberspace without the identity of the 
photographer.  He was John McColgan, a fire behavior analyst working as a 
firefighter.  It was taken from a bridge over the Bitterroot River with a 
digital camera.  John is from Alaska.  Since her was working as a Forest 
Service firefighter, the shot is public property and cannot be sold.  The 
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has made arrangements to use it on one of its 
magazine covers.  But it is a fabulous shot.  The fire overran 100,000 acres 
and destroyed 10 homes.
