Hi Hunter

U.S. Highway 50 is a great trip, I did that one myself, Colorado to the SF
in 1994, on my '81 BMW motorcycle- which I still have <grin>. You will love
H-50 through the Gunnison valley, in Colorado.  I went to college there,
Western State College, a great 5 years - some in the early 70's finishing up
in '89, when I semi retired for a little bit.  Gunnison is an all season
recreation area!!  Maybe you've heard it is also "the coldest place in the
continental US".  In the 70's, on those chilly winter nights, we used to
drive down town <whoopee> and watch the bank's temperature reading go
under -40 degrees.  At least, we didn't have to worry about the beer getting
too warm.  The next morning though, the sun comes out and its +20 degrees in
a mater of 30-45 minutes. <Pant, Pant, Pant>.  The doggies <oops> will love
it - you too - in the fall.

I did my highway 50 journey from Fort Collins going on Co. State Highway 14
West to Dinosaur Nat'l Monument and then down to H-50, across "the loneliest
highway in America" to Reno and SF then to Carmel, Palm Springs, New Mexico
and home.  Loved it.  Someday I want to AS it from coast to coast on U.S.
Highway 50!!  I think that would be so cool.  I bought my motorcycle in
Hawaii brand new in 1981 and I promised it I would let it see and feel the
ocean spray from "both sides" of the Pacific.   LOL

If you do go that way I hope you'll jog on up to Fort Collins from Denver,
if not maybe we could meet in Denver for your "free lunch". <yay>
