     Don't know why you don't have one -- you should.  Much Much better air flow, and diesels love air flow.  More air, and less turbulence in the air intake.  Gives you more horsepower and better mpg.  The filter lasts up to between 50,000 and 100,000 before needing servicing.  Dirt on the outside of the filter even helps to filter the air.  When it needs cleaning, don't replace it -- just flush with tap water and reoil with K & N oil and reuse.  Initial cost is higher, but you save $$$ after that.
