 More information is needed:

Is the rest of the 12VDC stuff working in your trailer, does only the
fridge have problems? Does anything work w/o the UniVolt being powered
up? Are your batteries truly charged up and OK? (I've seen new batteries
be bad, and they're not normally fully charged when received from the
dealer)

I'd start by checking the battery voltage: it should be about 12.6 on a
DVM if they're fully charged, if they're below 12 volts, they're DEAD
and must be charged before proceeding.

You didn't define "come and go", is this frequency every few seconds,
minutes, or hours?

Did the old fridge require 12VDC power? The old ones didn't, but I don't
know when they went to electronic controls. Your newer one apparently
does require 12VDC, so my question is, "who wired it, and did he know
what he was doing?"
