Why would you use either of those things when you have gas power to run 
anything you need to cook or to make coffee...?

I can see having solar power to run things, like a tv, that gas won't help 
with. But you have an oven and a cooktop that runs on gas.

*I* would want solar for the tv and sat. dish, to keep the phone and the 
laptop charged.  Oh, and the fridge, as mine is iffy at best on a/c.
