Re: [A/S] Re: solar installation

Thanks, Jim, for the post on solar power.  I too am a believer.  I just
finished the installation of two 64 watt panels, controller, 1300 watt
inverter and auto transfer switch, and the convenience is well worth the
effort.  For now, the battery bank is two 105 amp/hour AGM batteries
(Concorde Lifeline). I'm in the final stage of building a digital
voltmeter/ammeter setup to monitor consumption, which will complete the
setup.

I do not intend to run the A/C on solar, and only limited use of the
microwave, so the inverter size is reasonable for what I need.  Just to
be safe, the A/C circuit remains out of the loop when the inverter is
selected by the transfer switch.  Should I need A/C, I have a Honda
EU-3000is in the back of the truck.  Very quiet.

Any RVer should consider solar power, and certainly visit the RV Solar
Electric site at http://www.rvsolarelectric.com and browse through
that.  Their prices are quite reasonable, and they will give you all the
help you need over the phone if you have problems.

Also, as Jim cited, Mark Nemeth's site at
http://bart.ccis.com/home/mnemeth/ has an excellent two-part article
that is _must_ reading.

Sure is nice to boondock it and not have to live in the dark ages.
