Hi Jim and Jan,

Thanks for showing off your secondary water tank and your solar installation at
http://www.oldengine.org/members/jdunmyer/avion. 

Your idea of carrying a second water tank makes sense. I've thought of using the high bed area
behind the rear seat in our van. As you know, I severely customized the van 20 years ago. There's a
mattress there (cosmetic purposes only), but I'm toying with buying a very shallow and very large
(mattress size) plastic water tank with an easy fill opening and drain (for gravity feed). 

My objective is to drive over to the water faucet, fill the tank, return to the trailer and drain
the tank into the Airstream. At all other times, the plastic tank (lightweight) will get a free ride
and still look like we have a mattress in that area. This idea is in the noodling stage right now,
but after reading your solution, maybe I'll act on mine. We can't have you being the only one with
the capability of easily refilling your water supply when there is no water spigot nearby.   

When I viewed your solar panel brackets, it looked like rubber washers on both sides. If that's
true, you do good work. 

After being inside your old Airstream and seeing the control panel, I knew you'd have something
snazzy in your new Avion. Putting it into a closet wall is the way to go. My hands love easy access
instead of contortions. Our '77 31' has a similar cabinet area above the fridge (like yours) and
that's where I routed all the solar wiring and the controller. Lot of room in there to work. My next
mini-project is a small false wall inside that cabinet so things stored in there won't bump into the
wires or the back portion of the controller. That's probably overkill, but I like neat
installations.

One of these days, I will have to get checked out for putting pictures on the web. A picture is
worth a lot of words.
