Re: [A/S] new to me '61 overlander

Here is a tip I got from the list when I was starting to refurbish my 1976
31' Sovereign. My trailer also had the original AC, and although it was
cooling it really could not keep up with the heat here in Houston TX. I
checked with an RV service guy and he just suggested I replace it. The
advice from the list was to pull the top cover and clean both the condenser
and evaporator coils and to check the  blower blades as well. The condenser
coil was almost completely blocked with dirt and the evaporator coil was not
much better. The blower blades were full of dirt and in fact the set screw
holding it to the motor shaft was loose so it was jut spinning freely. After
a good cleaning and long over due maintenance the AC is working just fine,
even in this 109 degrees weather we are currently having.

To clean the condenser coils I just used a water hose, but cover up the
motor with a plastic bag first. The evaporator coils can be cleaned with a
brush. Good luck and I hope this helps. Looking forward to cooler weather
here in Houston
