Warren and Mary Ellen, on downhill braking use your hand control trailer
brake for better results in damping the
trailer sway, if any. If you controlled it
with the truck brakes, it would suggest
to me that you are getting good trailer
braking along with your truck -- as it
should be. But remember, if you get a
swing going down hill, use your trailer
brake hand control. Also, I've not seen
anyone suggesting that sway can be
controlled oftentimes by floor-boarding
the accelerator (providing you have
enough reserve power). When you
know an 18 wheeler is getting ready to
come by, the same power play, just as he
comes up to your trailer rear end, will
usually prevent any significant sway.
Glad to know this last trip turned out so
well. Do it again!
