Re: [a/s] Climbing on the roof?
Mr. Minimal wants to know about tie-downs. Go to a Mobile Home supply
store and get the long shaft "augur" type
tie downs. Instead of renting a gadget to
screw them into the ground, use a shovel
or posthole digger, all the way down, leaving only the ring or triangle
at the top
out of the ground. Use some cement or
QuikCrete mix to anchor the tie down maybe half or two-thirds the way
up. Fill
the rest with dirt. Let set.
I use extra long, heavy duty adjustable "eye-bolts" with a "J" hook at
one end
and an adjustable replacement chain
link to hook into the chassis or the tow
chain at the other; or use the chain-links
at both ends, whatever works. But where
one has to tolerate strong winds, tie it down one way or another.
And that's the way we do it in hurricane
prone areas!
