Thanks, Bob.  You have given me some
useful ideas, and of course I do need 
(and I guess am saying "I want") a laptop.
And nope, I do not have a computer of 
any kind; just the webtv and wanting more, apparently, than it is
capable of 
producing.  I am saving what you wrote
so when the day comes that I get the 
laptop, I can get Eudora, et al.  I am
most grateful that you took the time to
give me your "best shot". It is helpful.
