Roy -

I have had the same thing happen without the whistles.  In fact, I have never owned one.  It could be 
just a natural reaction by the deer.  I do not think there ever has been a  real test and the evidence is 
anecdotal.  Against this remember the old Kafka story about a dog in his back yards who pees against 
a tree and just then someone throws a bone over the fence.  Is there a connection between who is 
peeing against the tree and the bone coming over the fence?
