Roy -

On large trucks they are very loud.  Some cowboys truckers like to feather off and on the gas making 
even more noise.  Kind of like rolling off  the gas on a motorcycle just so in order to make the exhaust 
noise more noticeable.  Not that I ever did that, but I knew people who said they did that.   ;o)
