I just wanted to add to this that AFAIK Carefree does or at least did make
awnings with suitable arms for the Airstream configuration.  I have a Carefree
awning on my Argosy (Airstream) motor home with curved arms which hug the sides
very nicely.  This awning was far from new when I bought the unit (according to
the paperwork it was installed in 1979) but has continued to function
satisfactorily for the last six years.  One of these days I am going to have to
replace the fabric, but the hardware is in fine shape.
