RE: [a/s] Airstream and BMW motorcycles

Dear Folks,
I think there is an intrinsic value connected with quality of workmanship
and materials & elegance. My 1966 Safari is a good example.
It has a total aluminum hull which is impervious to weather. Aluminum LP
gas tanks are light and still have a sheen. All 12 volt and gas lighting
fixtures are in perfect shape. The bathroom is like new and perfectly
functional. The flooring is the original tile and is in great shape. The
hinges on the door are built like a meat locker and shine. The wood still
has a sheen to it. Even the curtains and upholstery are in good shape.

This entire package is single axle and light weight. It tows like a dream
and can sleep three in comfort. If it sounds like I have a love affair with
my Airstream home on wheels . . . darn right.

Because the makers put the quality in I am highly motivated to restore and
maintain the original. That's my subjective appraisal of owning a vintage
Airstream.

Aloha,
Bob
