Re: [a/s] looking for a tow vehicle....

Peg,

The Suburban has been the tow vehicle of choice since the demise of the
International Travelall. Everyone I know who tows with one is quite happy with
it. That being said, the gentleman from whom I bought my '31 delivered it with a
normally aspirated diesel 'Burb and it didn't really have the stamina to pull
some of the hills here in North Jersey at interstate speeds. I'd look at tow
ratings with a somewhat jaundiced eye if I were you. We opted for the
PowerStroke (turbo) diesel in our tow rig. 10k tow rating; 7100# gvwr on the
trailer (which I haven't gotten to a scale with yet). There's enough oomph there
to get up to highway speed, but there's no doubt that it's back there.

If you can see your way clear, I'd go for at least 30% more tow rating than the
rated weight of the trailer. Horse power is like money, never hurts to have a
few shekels in reserve. IMHO.
