I had the same malady.  You can carefully file the plate that fits in the
door frame.  A small amount of filing may be enough to overcome the sticking
problem.  Also use a bit of WD-40 on the bolt.

When you are testing to see if it works, do it from the inside!  The first
few times you may have to put your shoulder into it.  If this doesn't work
you may have a stuffed cylinder.  What did your locksmith say?
