Tangier's men are watermen for the most part.  Oysters were the main trade but pollution and 
overfishing has caused the numbers to crash and Chesapeake oysters are rare now.  The same is 
true for clams.  Crabs remain a means of livelihood but while the catch has been constant for the 
past decade, pots set is increasing and the size of crabs decreasing.  The crab population seems 
poised to crash, too.  The crabbers say that the folks in the universities do not understand what 
is happening out on the water.  I wish this were true, but the folks in the university also were 
pooh poohed about cod which has all but disappeared and other species.

Anyway, here are some locals in their crab boat on the way out to set some pots.
