You came to the right place... and at the right time (before you buy) to ask 
your questions.  Unfortunately, we did our purchasing backwards.  My hsb 
wanted a SUV and we really liked the Nissen Xterra so we bought one.  Then he 
mentioned that he would like to have a travel trailer when he retires, 
preferably an Airstream.  Then I discovered A/S was making the 19' Bambi 
again (3600' dry weight) and found a used '98 in mint condition.  So now 
we've towed the Bambi with the SUV about 600 miles with no problem except the 
amt of gas it uses on an upgrade. (glug, glug).

I found this mailing list after we had the Suv/Bambi combo.  I REALLY enjoy 
this group but in some ways wish I had never found it.  All the posts about 
towing with long-wheel base etc. vehicles  have filled me with doubts about 
our 'package'.  We're not about to get rid of the Xterra so it would have to 
be the A/S that went if we find out our towing situation doesn't work out.  
Then we would be back to getting a  (very) little Casita which we were going 
to buy before we found the Bambi.
