I have wondered about this also. A half ton truck Chevy is a 1500 and a
ford is a F150. The 3/4 tons are 2500 and F250, and the 1 tons are 3500
and F250 respectively, but why? 1500 lb is 3/4 ton not 1/2 ton, and 2500
lb is 1.25 tons not 3/4 ton.
