Re: [a/s] A/C Question on 75 Argosy
It's funny- I've been thinking about changing ours, as well, but I haven't
looked for the drain pan.
Mt first thought was to put a Duotherm Penguine heat pump, with wall
mounted controls, as I figured this would be closest to "stock"- look good,
and the heat pump would be nice.
Then I priced it (and bear in mind that I get this wholesale)- nearly
$800... yikes!
Anyway- I haven't made up my mind yet- the Armstrong still works (noisy as
heck, though), so I'll probably procrastinate for another year <g>.
A "new" player is Carrier- I've installed several, and they are very well
built. Plus they use a "slinger ring" condenser fan which takes the
consation from the unit, and blows it into the outside coils, where most of
it will evaporate again (also theoretically rases the efficiency). They are
also fairly light weight (just under 100 lbs).
