It's easier to see in the fog without lights....the lights cause a glow in 
the fog and inhibit sighting of the yellow and white lines.  Slow down?  
Yes....the ones I know do...unfortunately in deregulation there are a lot of 
truckers out there with no code (ethics or otherwise).  Fog that prohibits 
you from seeing the lines even without the glow of lights, is one that STOPS 
all the truckers I know... The other freaks of nature that causes a total 
stop (for them) ... (and for me)  which are totally just as debilitating, are 
sand storms and snow storms....all of those are 1,000 times worse than the 
worst driving rainstorm. 
Has any one ever driving The Grapevine (on I-5) in California?  It's between 
Fresno/Modesto and Los Angeles....closest town is Barstow I think.  It's a 
real deathtrap.  And while cops do not frequent it...if they do and you're 
speeding......forget it!  They get on you like white on white.   But, NO one, 
I mean no one drives less than 70 mph.  (Maybe Airstreams and their owners, 
but no one else....truckers probably break the 100-barrier there in good 
weather all the time.
