Re: [a/s] GMC V6 Engines

> The 305, 351 and 400 engines are all V8's....not V6's.

Not so fast! From about 1960 to 1970 GMC (the truck division) built 305,
351, & 401 cubic inch V6 engines. These were massive engines, weighing in at
about 900 lbs (compared to 500 lbs for a typical small-block V8 and 700 for
a big-block). They also built a 702 V12 which was basically two 351 V6es
bolted together. As far as I know only the 305 and 351s were offered in
pickups. If you doubt me (and you obviously do) visit you local library and
check out an older Motor's manual for heavy duty trucks. The next time you
see an early 60s GMC pickup look for the V6 emblem near the front of the
front fender. Starting in 1967 GMC made the Chevrolet 350 & 396 V8 engines
available. I think they dropped their V6 from the pickups in 1970.

General motors has NEVER built a 351 cubic inch V8, their preferred size was
350. Chevrolet built the 305 V8 for years, Buick, Chevrolet and Pontiac
built 400s (as well as a Chevy big-block 402).
