Re: [a/s] Airstream/Argosy Search
Actually 70s are vintage trailers..... 75s and older.
<<I'm wondering if there are any basic guidelines/knowledge as to preferable
years (ie., are early 70's more preferable than late 70's) and layout (ie.,
the mid-bath
versus rear bath situation; how widespread is the problem of taildroop/body
stress?). I know these questions have probably been asked numerous times
by novices such as myself but any input would be appreciated! >>
In 1973 they added the grey tank... where water from the sinks and shower
drains. The grey tank is a good thing, but in 1973 they added so much weight
that some of the rear bath models sagged.... when you are looking at mid 70s
trailers with rear baths be sure to eyeball from the side to see if the rear
is droopy. The later models have had the frame beefed up to eliminate the
sag. The repaired ones have "elephant ears" which you can see riveted on
from the rear of the trailer.
Argosys are painted cream color, Airstreams are silver..... not much
difference. Airstream costs more and will hold its value better. I had an
Argosy, loved it. Funky colors inside.... orange counter tops, gold shag
carpet.
Only missing was a lava lamp.
