I went through this last Oct.  Here are a few suggestions from my list...

Get a equalizing type of hitch installed, and a brake controller to match
the breaks on the trailer......(not a good idea to tow with just a bumper
ball, no sway control and other issues)
Have the wheel bearings, breaks, tires, ball socket and frame  checked on
trailer....Don't tow it if one or more of these items are not working or in
poor condition....
Make sure the lights all work....when they are supposed to....
Get some practice with the trailer at its location before hitting the
road....
.Learn how to make turns before you get to the onramps....
Keep the LP turned off while traveling....
Short stretches first and keep checking everything...work up to 2-3 hundred
miles per day....
Don't run after dark at first... get used to the whole setup....
Leave enough time to get it done safely....things go wrong more often when
you hurry....

If you want to live in it while traveling that is a different set of
issues....
