[a/s] High efficiency air conditioners

Hello,
  Just joined the list and would like to hear from anyone who has replaced 
their roof a/c with one of the new high efficiency units from Dometic, 
Coleman, Carrier, etc. Does it cool as well or better than previous unit? 
What problems ,if any, have you experienced? Want to replace the unit in my 
32' Excella, but I'm concerned these units may not be all they are cracked 
up to be. Thousands of people were persuaded to buy heat pumps here in South 
Texas only to discover they are useless in summer and winter and energy 
usage went up due to 24 hour operation.
I'm also wondering how these units handle high humidity.
Any input from those with experience in this matter would be appreciated.
