I never knew that...but I do remember it tasting bad a few times I tried to 
drink out of one.  Then, when I bought this house, I bought a new hose that 
had a white plastic end on it and the paper that came on it said this was a 
safe filter type of end...and it works the water always tastes good.  I 
didn't buy it for that but I'm sure glad I have it now.
