Dick and Jane, have all of your bills put on
automated checking.  The bill is presented to the bank electronically
and automatically withdrawn from your account.  The paper bill is sent
to your
mail address, even indicating the date on
which it will be presented to your bank, so
you have the opportunity to review it.  We 
did that a couple of years ago and liked it
so well that we just let it go on that way.
The postoffice will, of course, forward your mail if you have a
forwarding address, or request that they hold your
mail pending your return.  If they won't
hold it (there is a degree of autonomy
given to each postmaster), have a neighbor, friend or relative pick it
up, bundle it and forward - or hold - it for
you.

That's been our way of handling the problem across many years.  Have a 
good time and forget your bills -- which
is almost the best way to have a good
time!
