I pull my 29' Excella with a Ford Crown Vic.  It has a 4.6L/V8.  It suits me
because it has sufficient  power, the wheel base is long enough and it gets
good gas mileage for  tow vehicle.  I just learned that someone by the name
of Colin over at the Henseley Hitch place pulls his trailer with a Lincoln
Town Car.  The town car has the same chassis as the Crown Vic it is just
that the skin and interior are a lot spiffier.  Apparently, according to my
source he has over 150,000 miles on it and tows an average of 15,000 miles
per year.  (beware you are getting this latter information 3rd hand)  My
experience with the Crown Vic is based on 80,000 miles driven over 7.5
years.  I don't know how many miles I've towed with it, but this past fall
we completed a journey of about 7,000 miles from Toronto, down to Florida
over to San Diego and back.  We crossed the Rocky Mountains twice.  On the
steepest inclines I had to shift down to 2nd gear and drove at 40-45 mph.

I would think that with a 5.4/V8 Ford with trailer package you should be ok.

It is worth remembering that Airstreams tow more easily that most other
trailers of comparable size.  They do this for two reasons, they tend to be
lighter and are more aerodynamic.  One of the most important considerations
for good towing is a good hitch.  You might want to read the web page on
