[a/s] New member and a few questions

Hi all,

My wife and I just joined this list and thought a brief introduction was
in order.

For some time now, we have been planning a grand adventure when our
children leave the nest. In a couple of years we plan to take a year or
so and travel around the country to see the sites. As the date
approaches, we find ourselves looking at options for our "home away from
home." At this point, it is safe to say that we have been bitten by the
"Airstream bug." We love the classic styling, efficient use of space, and
quality of these trailers. We hope that our participation in this list
will help us decide how to proceed and to get the most out of our trailer
when we buy it.

Our first challenge is deciding what type of trailer to buy. We are torn
between a less expensive classic model that brings the opportunity for
refurbishing and personalizing (I love this kind of stuff) and a newer
model that brings modern amenities. I suspect I know the bias of this
mailing list already. :-) In either case, we are looking at a smaller
trailer (19-22 ft, possibly 25 ft).

We have seen pictures of various 60's 22 ft Safari models and really like
the size and layout of these units. Does anyone know the dry weight and
GVWR of these trailers? If anyone has anything (good or bad) to say about
these trailers, we'd love to hear it.

In the newer arena, we are considering the early 90's 21 ft Sovereign.
Again, if anyone knows the dry weight, GVWR, or anything else about these
units, we'd love to hear it.

Finally, are there any other favorites out there in this size range that
folks feel we should consider?

Thanks in advance for any guidance, and thanks for allowing us to join in
this forum.
