[a/s] LEAKS & sealant

This could be real convoluted Chris.. For one thing, the rear bath was (is)
notorious for being real heavy on the frame and creating stress which can
cause openings I suppose.
You may need to have it put up on a rack...and have the undercarriage looked
at for stress.
If you can find a broken seal...or suspect a place where the trim, window
frame, vent frame, awning hinge attachment...anything has old and brittle
sealant...I would remove it with a dental (tooth-cleaning) tool
(I have been given 3 by dental hygenists ... I just tell them I'm an artist
that needs one...and they have been very happy to just 'give' me one ...
because they have to toss the old ones; now they are buying ones with
disposable 'heads' for hygenic reasons)
Then I managed to find a way to use this sealant that I found after much
searching. It's hard to learn...but no one can teach you...I practiced on
something I was going to toss...and it really helped.
It is made by ALCOA Aluminum and its all liquid aluminum...so it's considered
"HAZ-MAT" (Hazardous Material)...and even tho' its in just a tooth-paste
sized tube (and the cost is only about $9.00 the tube), in order to have it
'delivered' the delivery-person HAS to have driver's licencing certification
in order to deliver it (even mailing won't work). If you find a dealer who
will buy a large-enough amount (like a case of it), you can go pick it up
from the dealer. Otherwise, you'll need to do what I had to do...drive to
whereever it is and pick it up yourself. I got 2 tubes to be sure I don't
run out.
THE STUFF IS SO FABULOUS THAT I WISH I'D BOUGHT A CASE OF IT! It is hard to
learn to 'drag' a nice even line....and you CANNOT go back over it while
you're doing it. You have to wait and go back and redo the spot. It SHRINKS
UP AND DISAPPEARS IN THE TRIM, or ON the exterior... It just disappears.
I found leaks (transmitted to another part of the trailer inside) from the
awning attach(ed) place...like a huge hinge; the toilet vent; the horizontal
trim; the window frames.
OH...AND B/T/W (by the way),
ON THE SIDES...VERTICAL PLACES...like a window: do it this way...
DRAG THE LIQUID ON THE TOP, THE SIDES AND JUST TO THE BOTTOM INWARD CURVE
OF THE SIDES....DO NOT TRY TO GET IT UNDER THE WINDOWS OR TRIM.....It will
NOT shrink UP.
I love telling you all about this stuff...everyone go out and buy it please
so that they never stop making it!!!!
Pleased to tell you about it.
