I went through a mud flaps flap recently.  I ended up buying  a  pair of heavy
rubber mud flaps from the local auto store for $8.99/pr.  I used 1 1/2 inch flat
aluminum bar stock and stainless bolts for my hanger bracket.

They look good, if I do say so myself.  But, if I had it to do over again, I think
I would try the method that Hunter described recently.  She saw that someone had
attached mud flaps to wood pieces that fit into the square openings at the side of
the hitch receiver on the vehicle.  This would not only allow for a large mud flap,
but it would be removable and no drilling holes in the truck body or bumper frame
to accommodate a bracket.  Sounds neat.
