Rich, basically we made the same modification as you did with
the 3 way valve, however, if you connect a blow out fitting (available at just
about any rv store for about $1.75) it will allow you to pump air into the pump
suction line. I use a 12 volt compressor to accomplish this.
In your case you could install a female hose connector onto
the 3rd port of the 3 way valve (the pump suction line) screw in the blow out
connector which allows you to attach a standard air pump into a garden hose.
Turn on the compressor to push all the water out of the lines utilizing your
standard procedure (with the exception that you don't have to tilt your
trailer). Then unscrew the blow out connector and attach a short hose to pump
the antifreeze into the lines.
To recover the antifreeze install the blow out connector,
attach your compressor and open a faucet or drain to recover your
antifreeze.
If I am going to be pressed for time, I pump out the
antifreeze with the air compressor and travel with the lines empty. The lines,
pump, toilet, fittings etc are still protected as they do not have any water in
them at all. Joe
