I agree.... heck I'm all for optimizing taxes (c:  All I'm saying is if the 
IRS feels like you are avoiding paying state taxes and they catch you you are 
in deep doo doo.  It's possible the state would never notice.

If I were going to try that I would definiely change all my stuff to the new 
chosen state.  Registration, drivers license, bills.

The state IRS might compare stuff like that in their computers.  

IOW if you have a drivers license in a state and haven't paid state income 
tax it would be a simple thing for them to find.

Maybe I'm paranoid.  There are 5-6 states that have no state income tax.
Texas, Florida and Tennessee.......... South Dakota.....not sure what else.
