The fastest way to unhook in a fire is to disconnect the chains and 
plugs, pull the pin out of the hitch, and HIT THE GAS HARD! It helps 
if the brakes are locked (by the safety switch, if there's electric 
left to do it). If your hitch doesn't come off with the 
load-levelers, this isn't likely to work.

That's assuming you have a serious problem, of course, because the 
trailer will probably be damaged and the tow vehicle won't like the 
strain... Don't toast yourself trying to jack it up and down.
