Cookie,
      Our '69, has a center bed, and on the wall it has a cardboard
covered panel running the whole length of the bed. This panel is covered
with fabric which matches the new upholstery we had the bed covered in.
No foam or soft insulation was added just cardboard, about 1/8" thick and
fairly stiff stock.  The pad is simply attached with screws and shoulder
washers, for looks.
