We use a battery-powered CO (not CO2) detector.  Hasn't gone off yet.  We do 
a battery check about once a month.  CO (carbon monoxide) is the killer since 
it shuts down the oxygen transport in the blood - a deadly situation.  CO2 
just displaces some of the oxygen in the air we breathe and makes us work a 
little harder to get the O2 that we need - doesn't poison us.
