[a/s] Introduction and Awning reply

Hello everyone:

We are Sonia and Charlie Covey. We are fulltimers (unretired) living in
our 31' 1979 Sovereign #6511. We did a substantial remodel before we moved
in last June and were fulltimers from the first night we slept in the
Airstream. From that first night things began to break and malfunction,
Always trying to find the positive side of things, we looked at this as a
learning opportunity and now have had a positive learning opportunity with
almost every system here.

Things have stabilize now so we are tackling problems like caulking the
exterior (a few small leaks, mainly when ice is melting). How do you guys
scrape out the old stuff without scratches, we have tried sharpening the
back of an old tooth brush into a chisel shape and that works without major
scratching but only lasts about two feet.

Re. Awnings

Two advantages of awnings are shading the a/s from the summer sun (this
was a major feature at Dayton last summer, the sun was hot and shining in
and heating everything it could touch and we had limited power with no air
conditioning). It also helps keep the outside of the unit cool. The second
advantage is the option to keep the windows open during rainy weather.
