Re: [a/s] Good Sam's

Verna, IMHO Sam ain't worth it unless
you are going to be staying at a lot of
parks which offer discounts not otherwise
available. I do consider the Camping World President's Club worth the
cost.
Don't overlook Corps of Engineers, and
other similar parks (Nat'l Forest Service,
Nat'l Parks; same for States. And always
search for the municipal and county
parks because they have a certain "local
color" rustic quality, but often not many
amenities like sewer, etc. (One we stayed at was right "down town" in a
very small town, a block away was the
main restaurant, a grocery store, etc.)
Get Don Wright's books -- 2 of them --
available at Camping World: one on free
spots; the other lists the very low priced
ones. CW also has a book on the COE
parks and one on campgrounds in Florida.
And of course, every State has a Bureau
or Department of some kind listing the
sites (and nearby attractions) which may
be listed in the Rand McNally (sp?) Atlas
available at WalMart at a discounted price. WBCCI membership directory
has
a listing by States of "courtesy parking"
offered by WBCCI members -- and most
of them are very eager to have visitors!
If all else fails, ask at local eating places,
merchants, service stations; and watch
for smaller roadside signs which usually
are for unadvertized parks.

And keep your own "directory" of places
you find, where and how far from where,
so you can find it next time -- or help
someone else find one.

Have fun; enjoy being with each other
doing the great adventure: full timing!
