[a/s] Deadbolts

I hope I don't bore anybody if this has been posted before but here
goes,
I want to install a deadbolt on my AS door as I can get in it through
the factory lock faster with a pick than with the key.
Is there any certain model deadbolt that has to be bought to fit the
narrow door?
I also wonder about the screws that hold the door hinges on. It seems
all you have to do to get around the deadbolt is undo 4 screws and the
hinges come off. It might be wise to install a deadbolt on both sides of
the door if this is the case(?)
I have seen a lock installed in the body side of the door frame in a AS
that had the Goodyear Marathon blowout special (a nearly new tire!) that
I stopped to help on the side of the road.
They were in a hurry and I did not get time to see it too close.
