Suggestions:

First thing is go to a magazine or bookstore like BooksA Million and
get a current copy of "The Milepost".

This is the bible for those driving in Alaska. The whole state is set
up by highway milepost to tell you what to see and do, and where to
find gas/diesel/medical etc.

If you are towing a trailer, the last caravan up the ALCAN highway
(basically an unpaved, "improved" gravel road  in a lot of places)
reported that most failures were rock strikes breaking the water pipes
or sewer connections. All suggested using some kind of shielding like
cut up innertube materials around the exposed piped. Bring a PVC
repair kit too !

Second: Bring LOTS of film. Alaska/Yukon territory is the most
beautiful scenery in North America! I will send you a rare photo I
managed of the Alaska Range including Denali in the clear, directly
off list, and you will understand!
