Re: [VAL] what are your thouhts

Rudy,

As an owner of a 1960 Overlander my initial thought was that my trailer is
insured for just about what they offered you on yours. It is the amount that
I would hope to get out of it if the same thing happened to me. THEN I READ
that you had it insured for $18,000! They agreed to the $18,000 value. There
is no possible way that your trailer depreciated that much in two years
time. To the contrary, you may even be able to show that it appreciated.
Stick to your guns. As suggested earlier, hire someone if need be.

My trailer has won both Silver and Gold in 05 & 06. And has consistently won
something since we started going to Internationals in '99. While not
original, it has not been restored either. I am beginning to think that I
have it WAY underinsured. Last month I had the door blow open on me. The
door was destroyed. It had to be rebuilt. The fact that I had insurance to
cover such a disaster never even crossed my mind until after most of the
work was completed. I made a claim, understanding that I was going about
this all backwards. A day or two later I paid to get the trailer out of
hock. Now I can't get the insurance adjuster to return my calls. Live and
learn.

Anyone know of a really good insurance company for our trailers? Preferably
one that will also insure a classic car, but more importantly they don't
treat their clients as the enemy? If they also handled regular auto and home
insurance that would be a plus. After how my current company is treating me
you can be assured that I will not be sending them any more of my money.
