I suspected as much, but my question now is, what are my alternatives?  
Can I fix this thing or can I get it fixed at a reasonable price?  If 
so, where?  Is it worth fixing?  Or should I look for a modern 
replacement?  What am I looking at in dollars?  I see ads for new units 
running from a few hundred dollar to over a thousand.  How do I know 
what I need/want?

I have no idea what I'm up against here.  We've just started 
Airstreaming and have just one three-day trip under our belts.  As with 
anything old, this Trade Wind needs a few things fixed.  To complicate 
matters, I'm 71, and we have a limited budget, so repairs have to be 
spread out.  The furnace is now on my workbench!
