Hi Gang,
Through the website I get many offer/inquiries from people wanting to
sell their Airstream, or uncles old Airstream, and so on. Some people
have overinflated ideas of worth - I try and pop those, others are
interested in just getting rid of it for free, and then everything in
between.

I have been directing them over the years to the VAC Classifieds, but
have found many people are more interested in having someone else do the
selling aspect. I recently have been directing these sellers, and
occcasional buyers, to individuals around the country who buy, trade &
sell Airstream trailers.

I don't have any such arrangement yet in the Southwest (So. Calif &
Arizona) and the South (Texas up to mid Atlantic). If you are such an
individual with the resources, desire and time to buy and sell
airstreams for profit, contact me offlist and we'll see what develops.

I get many interesting offers from people who stumble across the site
researching that old trailer they have. I have enough trailers to keep
me busy, so I've passed on many an interesting offer.

That's the most noticeable difference. Could be a '56 model first sold &
registered in 1957. What's the serial number?

Dear Listers:
It's coming down to crunch time on my '57(?)Bubble rebuild and I
still haven't found a hand held shower head that'll work in my teeny
bathroom. I need the faucet water controller too unless a shower head
exists that has on/off/volume/temp stuff on the handle - which would be
a miracle. I've checked a lot of sources, RV, boat supply,
McMaster-Carr, and done a "Dog Pile" search that took 3 nights work.
Any ideas. The plumbing has to go in any day now and I'm considering a
90 mile drive to check out a West Marine store - their catalogs have
some stuff that might work but I can't tell til I see it. Probably
looked right at one online or somewhere and didn't recognize the
features - getting a little punchy here.

p.s. Bought the Cozy Cabin heater from Sailnet and it was on sale for

Does it still have the LeDeux opener, or is it a Phillips? LeDeux T

You'll find that skin panle seams almost never leak, as the whole
overlap between the two skins is filled with a wide band of sealant.
Almost always it will be "extra holes" in the field of the skin panels
as Daisy has noted: A/C mount holes, awning supports and rails,
antennas, lights, owner "add-ons", screws. Many window styles will leak
too, and they can be found with the two person water hose method.
Best of luck,
RJ

The original high quality chrome shower head used by Airstream in the
late '50's and 1960's is still made. VanDykes is one place that carries
it at a very decent price.

The matching chrome flex hose, wall mount holders (2 styles) and control
valves are available too.

I've carried bikes many different ways, the worst was in the trailer. I have
not carried them behind the trailer, but one must work out the best solution
for their set up. My current solution was to adapt a fork mount Thule (from
a previously owned passenger car) to clamp into the front stake holes on my
pickup. It works well. It will hold three bikes without them touching, keeps
them as clean as any other method, they are locked to the truck and putting
them in and out couldn't be easier. Depending how the handle bars line up
you could hold four bikes this way.

Gerald or anyone, can you tell me a source for a front mounted hitch?
Thanks.

Its been nearly four year since I was last shopping for a hitch. But a
google search on the two phrases "front receiver" "reese hitch" turned
up a few hits. Just searching the Reese Hitch web page should turn up
theirs.

If your tow vehicle is a Pick Up, Bike racks that mount in the bed of the
Pick Up work just fine.

Joan, I don't know what the shower water control valve in a 57 Bubble looks
like but I replaced the control in my 68 Tradewind with a control designed
for a laundry sink. It cost about $13 and was an exact replacement. I bought
it at an old fashioned hardware store. Made in Korea and nice quality.

Thanks for supplying the links on the shower parts.
I replaced the hose in my '73 Ambassador with plastic ones from Home Depot,
but now that I know
where to order a metal one I may switch it out.
