Hi Earl,

It IS very expensive to get the work I had done, done. Do not pay too
much for that FC if it needs the kind of work I needed. Most of the
people on this list are able to do the work themselves so the cost
factor isn't as great. I do not have the tools, work space or knowledge
to have done the work myself. I will do the polishing and take care of
the interior. As we vintage owners well know, the work is NEVER done!

We spent a fair amount of time messing with our '79 @ 31' A/S and the
new red arrow hitch. By parking on a level paved surface, and carefully
checking for level (by measuring from pavement to a consistent surface
front and back as well as checking with a 6' level on the floor). It
was decided that 19 1/2" to the trailer's hitch off the pavement was
just right. The ball and receiver on the truck was then adjusted to
match the trailer. If the hitch's torsion bars are properly adjusted,
the heights and levelness should remain consistent before and after
hooking up.
19 1/2" seems to be pretty consistent with full size A/S trailers of
our vintage.

Best,

Yes, the thickness is very thin, not even 1/8". It made no appreciable
difference in the location of the tire/wheel assembly. I took the trailer on a 500
mile trip to the Texas Hill Country this past weekend and the differences I
noticed were that the spice jars that are usually on their side in the cabinet
above the sink stayed in place. The skinny little Tabasco bottle didn't fall on
it's side as it usually does. My next test is to break the law by taking a
short ride in the trailer on a rural road to see if I can detect any vibration.

I was playing with my mapping software and drooling over GPS systems and
wondered where in Lansing they are parking all of us ? I recall that the
events are at the Lansing Center and the trailers will be elsewhere..

I know it's a long way off, but I like to pretend.

Daisy,

Tell me what you need mapped out, I've got GPS software for my Magellan
Meridian Marine unit. I'll do that and send you copies - but you gotta'
tell me where to look - landmarks might help to start with.

OK?

Daisy,

Where will the parking locations be for the upcoming International in
Michigan? From what I understand there will be about 3 different parking
areas which is different than last years rally and possibly maybe different
than any other International Rally.

Does anyone know if this (different parking locations) has been done before by
the WBCCI?

I would like to map out these locations you talked about, Daisy. Tell me
where they are, I'll do that and send you copies. OK?

Subject: [VAL] Air conditioner installation

Hello everyone,

I have been off the list for about five days because we went camping. The
weather was perfect. Along the way I picked up a salvaged Dometic Penguin
air conditioner in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I need to figure out where it goes on
my 1966 Globe Trotter. Does anyone have a '66 GT with air conditioning? If
so, can you tell me where it is installed? I always thought it would go in
the rear roof vent, but now that I have one I don't think that will work.
The roof slopes away to the rear too close to the vent.

Also, should I purchase the adapter pan from Airstream? I've gotten
conflicting advice on this. On the one hand there is the opinion that the
pan is only for condensation run off, and if my GT wasn't set up with a
drain line in the wall then there is no point in getting the pan. On the
other hand there is the opinion that the pan is needed for installation
because of the curvature of the roof on Airstreams.

Any and all advice appreciated!

Forrest

BUt but the mapping part is the FUN part. What I want to know is what is
where ? Who's at the airport ? who's at the armory who's at the lansing
Center or is that just events and display.

I already have those locations located and marked.
