RE: [VACList] grey or black water tank replacement

Jon...

we have talked before about this same thing and I am back on this list
now that we are back to working on the A/S again.

I just want to mention that after a bunch of the same problems as you,
we just reinstalled our tank and new metal box with new galvanized angle
beams across the frame. It all seems to be working...in that the toilet
hole is snugly where it's supposed to be and the Thetford valve seems to
work.

I found a wonderful metal working guy who built me a holding tank metal
box for $100 and charged $125 to do the frame work. I thought it was a
steal!!! My new "Traveler lite" toilet that I ordered is in and ready
for pickup and it was just $185 and I thought that was good too.

Right now we are figuring out how to correct the electrical mess the
previous owner left while re- doing the A/C circuit all wrong.

Does your circuit breaker box just look like a small home CB box or is
it something different unique to A/S? Mine is a 30 amp CB box and looks
ok but it takes up a bunch of space in the compartment and I wondered if
there was a smaller one I could get. I can't find any on any internet
RV site or by going to a big parts place in Atlanta yesterday.
Apparently other RV's use different kinds of main boxes that are part of
an inverter according to the salesperson but she may not be right.

We thought we'd install 3 new copper wire circuits instead of the
aluminum wiring that's there....one for lighting and outlets, one for
A/C and one for the univolt. I just have to mound them on the interior
walls like surface wiring cuz my MR refuses to take down the interior
walls. The wires will be well covered by the new wood structures we
build and riveted with brackets to the walls.
