Thanks Jim,

I hadn't thought of a radiator hose.  Some have flexible rubber - certainly
not food grade, but I've decided that the water will seldom be used for
drinking.  I'd rather rely on the safety of bottled water for drinking and
cooking.  The ID of the tube must be pretty close to 1-1/2 inch.
