[VAC] Replacing shocks

Dear Vac List

We recently lucked unto a 1969 Caravel and are quite
taken with it.  Lots of original equiptment and truly
marvelous shape inside and out.  In looking at the
shock absobers, they show a little bit of leakage.  Is
this bad?  I have been under the impression that that
is a sure sign of failing shocks.  Our RV catalog
shows Monroe shocks and an adapter that would fit them
to an Airstream arm.  Does anybody have any experience
with this arrangement?  Are the original shocks
available?  Does anybody have a source for the plastic
hinges for the under slide away compartments?
